Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only player to achieve final poker table in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history competing against Daniel Negreanu. He won a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest players around the world. While betting on online poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He frequently plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus generally buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the table with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes most of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the best players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I believe tv can alter our perception of the real world at times. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world might just be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in high stakes Omaha and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in cash rounds?
