Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental comments from others annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker players in the world.
He started competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
