Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental comments from others annihilate his dream of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
He began competing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Even though Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
