Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his dream of being one of the best poker competitors in the world.
Phil started competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching experience and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Even though Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
